WASH cluster meeting on Flood response, held on 19th December 2017 at Greenwich Hotel, Kathmandu

The WASH Cluster meeting regarding Flood Response in Nepal, was held on the 19th of December 2017, in Greenwish Hotel, Sanepa, Kathmandu. The event saw a participation from the Department of Water Supply and Sanitation (DWSS), UNICEF and other partner organizations, working in the disaster sector. The meeting highlighted on the Status of Flood disaster in Nepal in Chronological order, as well as, the improvement in Early warning system and quick awareness information dissemintation , which has significantly reduced the number of casualties through flood this year. 

Apart from the flood status the event addressed the findings on the Joint Monitoring visit and its objectives. The
WASH cluster initiated the JMV to analyses the response effect in the heavily affected 15 districts. The
practice of JMV was started after the surkhet flood in 2014.

A briefing on the finding from Joint Monitoring Visit(JMV) from the WASH cluster team members on the WASH response in the heavily Flood affected 15 districts after the Flood on August 2017 was provided to all participants. There were 4 groups in the JMV that covered 15 heavily affected districts.
Group 1: Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari
Group 2: Siraha, Saprtari, Dhanusa and Mahottari
Group 3: Bara, Parsa, Sarlahi and Rautahat
Group 4: Dang, Kailali, Banke and Bardiya
